Drink Your Way to Better Health!
It’s the New Year, and the time that everyone is re-focusing on eating healthy and staying active. We’re back in the gym and eating salads galore! This is all great, but we want to remind you of something important that many of us accidentally over-look, especially in the winter months. Don’t forget to drink water! We have established hydration as a major part of our lifestyle and hope that you do the same.
Staying properly hydrated is super-important for proper cell function. It’s not just helpful for athletes, but is crucial for everyone who wants to feel healthy. It’s really helpful to invest in a nice water bottle. We love Camelbak bottles, and carrying one everywhere works well to remind us to constantly sip water all day.
There are hundreds of drink options at most grocery stores, and there are guidelines everywhere that tell us what and how much to drink, but we say to just keep it simple and drink water, the good stuff. Just like Tessemae's, water is sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, kosher, paleo-friendly, etc. and leave no room for any wonder about nutrition. It's all pros, no cons.
In terms of volume, a general rule of thumb that we find helpful to follow each day is to drink half of your body weight in ounces. Obviously, the amount of liquid that you should consume varies depending on a wide variety of factors ranging from individual activity level to climate.
We like to follow the rules:
-Drink early (At least two hours before physical activity)
-Drink often (Continually sip water throughout the day)
-Drink after (Post exercise hydration is important)
You can also stay hydrated by eating foods with high water content, such as fruits and vegetables.
Salad, anyone?!
