Beef & Avocado Tacos
Do you have a taco night in your house like we do? If so, prepare to overhaul your own recipe for this one—our BBQ sauce has just about everything you need. Say goodbye to those packets of seasoning forever!
Makes 4 servings
What you need
1 pound 90% ground beef
¼ cup Tessemae’s Matty’s BBQ Sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons cumin
½ teaspoon oregano
coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper
8 corn tortillas
1 small bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
1 avocado, sliced
½ red onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup crumbled Cotija cheese, for serving
What you do
1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef to skillet and cook, stirring, for about 8 minutes or until no longer pink.
2. Stir in BBQ sauce, chili, cumin, oregano, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper and cook another 3 minutes or until well blended.
3. Meanwhile, heat the tortillas. If you have gas burners, char them directly over the flame, using tongs to turn. If you have electric, warm them in a skillet or on a grill pan. Wrap the tortillas in foil as you go and keep them warm in the oven.
4. Make tacos with the beef, tortillas, cilantro, avocado, red onion and cheese.
